The ultimate reward, of course, is knowing that every dollar you raise will be helping young people in need.

“I’m one of the lucky ones that came out of it.”

For Kylie, home was never a place of safety. Growing up surrounded by domestic violence and instability, leaving home as a young teenager wasn't about rebellion – it was an act of survival. What others saw as homelessness, Kylie understood as the safer choice.

The effects of that trauma didn't disappear when the danger did. Even after the violence ended, the sense of waiting for something to go wrong never quite left. The search for belonging took years – but when Kylie found Youth Off The Streets, she recognised something immediately: a place where her story was met with care rather than judgement.

Today, Kylie channels her lived experience into supporting young people on their own journeys to safety – because she knows firsthand how much it means to finally have somewhere safe to call home.

See how far it
takes you

Why not use July as an excuse to explore somewhere new? Hike4Home is the perfect motivation to finally tackle that bush trail you've been meaning to try, head to the sea for a long coastal walk or venture further afield for a proper overnight adventure. Set a big distance goal, get some friends on board and see where your feet take you!

Or stay close to
home

Make your Hike4Home challenge work around you – not the other way around. Morning walks around the block, lunchtime strolls through the park, an evening wander through your neighbourhood – it all counts. Whatever fits into your day, every step you take is raising vital funds for young people experiencing homelessness.

It’s better together

Everything's better with company – so why not make Hike4Home a team effort? Rope in your friends, family or workmates, create a team page and take on the challenge together. You'll keep each other motivated through the tough days, celebrate every milestone along the way, and between you, raise even more for young people in need.

Where your
money goes

Right now, thousands of young Australians aged 12 to 24 are at risk of or are facing homelessness. Behind every statistic is a young person dealing with circumstances they didn't choose – family breakdown, violence, disadvantage – without the safety and stability they need to build a future.

Every dollar you raise through Hike4Home goes directly to Youth Off The Streets, a frontline youth services organisation that has been walking alongside young people through some of the toughest moments of their lives for over 30 years. From 24-hour crisis accommodation and transitional housing to one-on-one casework, counselling and life skills programs, your fundraising provides the wraparound support that gives young people the stability and confidence to rebuild their lives.

Because a safe place to call home is just the beginning.

“Every night in Australia, more than 43,000 young people face homelessness.”

“Every step they take towards a more secure future is hard‑won and filled with immense challenges. But this July, you can show them they don’t have to walk alone.”

“Whether it’s committing to a daily lunchtime walk or planning weekend hikes with friends and family, joining us for Hike4Home is a powerful way to make a tangible difference for the young people we support who so often walk alone. Your commitment and fundraising help provide crisis accommodation, transitional housing and vital casework – giving young people not just shelter, but the chance to finally find home.”
